Objective To review and analyze the determinants and prevalence of recruitment in blood donors among Chinese population, and to provide scientific evidence for the recruitment of blood donors. Methods The published papers of observational studies on the determinants and prevalence of recruitment in blood donors from January 2007 to November 2016 were collected from Chinese BioMedical Literature Base(CBM),Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI), PubMed. The papers which met the inclusion criteria were evaluated. The pooled recruitment rate and 95% confidence interval (CI)as well as OR and its 95%CI for the determinants of recruitment in blood donors were calculated with R software version of 3.3.2. Subgroup analysis were conducted based on the different population and the quality of literature. Egger was used to explore the publication bias. Results A total of 29 papers were selected, involving 35 759 subjects. The results showed that the recruitment rate of the blood donors was 30.0%(95%CI 26.0%~34.0%); and male(OR=1.47, 95%CI 1.13~1.91), blood donor experience of relevant (OR=2.04, 95%CI 1.30~3.19), subjective norms(OR=2.09,95%CI 1.43~3.04), with blood donor knowledge (OR=2.50, 95%CI 1.90~3.28)and positive attitudes toward blood donation(OR=2.32,95%CI 1.59~3.40) were the promotion factors for blood donation. Conclusion The strategies of the blood donor recruitment should be focused on the female blood donor, and blood donor population transferred from street blood donor to group blood donor, and enhanced the fixed blood donor team, and promoted health literacy of the blood donor and explained the policy of blood use.
