    Observation on The Effect of The Follow Up after Falls Led by Specialist Nurses on Preventing The Elderly Patients from Falling Again

    • Objective To investigate the effect of follow-up after falling which led by specialist nurses on preventing elderly patients from falling again. Methods Thirty-one patients who fell down during hospitalization were followed up by home visit at the first week, 1-month, 3-month and 6-month. At usual, there is a telephone follow-up every 1~2 weeks on the basic of their situation. If there are something special, we will visit them at any time, guide the prevention of falls, understand the implementation of measures to prevent falls, investigate the situation of falls again, and guide rehabilitation training. Results Only 2 of 31 elderly patients fell down within 1 week after hospitalization. The compliance of measures to prevent falls has gained great achievement. Conclusion The follow-up of elderly falls led by the nurses who was trained by specialists can effectively improve the implementation rate of measures to prevent falls and reduce the occurrence of repeated falls among elderly patients.
