Objective To explore effectiveness of health education model of evidence-based for women with twins about breastfeeding. Methods A retrospective survey was used to collect the data. The intervention group (from 2016.1 to 2016.12) received health education model of evidence-based, and the control group(from 2015.1 to 2015.12) received only common health education. The exclusive breastfeeding rates for twins were compared at 1,4 and 6 months. Results The overall breastfeeding rates for both twins and the breastfeeding rates for only one twin of the intervention group were 47.1%/49.0% at 1 months,39.2%/43.1% at 3 months, 35.3%/39.2%at 6 months. In the control group, the rates were 15.9%/18.2%,13.6%/15.9% and 13.6%/15.9% respectively, compare with the control group, the intervention group had higher exclusive breastfeeding rates at 1,4 and 6 months, P<0.05. For separation infants, the intervention group was more inclined to breastfeeding at 1 month and 4 month(OR value were 0.82/0.87 vs. 0.23/0.34,P<0.05). Conclusions Health education model of evidence-based can significantly promote exclusive breastfeeding rates for twins' first 6 months of life, including separation infants, so as to promote the health of mothers and twins.
