Abstract
Objective To formulate an evidence-based treatment plan for a patient newly diagnosed ulcerative colitis. Methods After clinical problems were put forward, systematic reviews, meta analysis and randomized controlled trials were collected from the Cochrane Library, sumsearch, Wanfang datebase and PubMed (2000 to 2010). Treatment protocol was produced by combining the evidence and the values of the patient. Results A total of 79 RCTs and 35 systematic reviews were identified. A rational treatment plan was made upon a serious evaluation of the data to control symptoms. After two years follow-up, the plan proved to be optimal. Conclusion The treatment efficacy in diagnosed ulcerative colitis has been improved by determining an individual treatment plan according to evidence-based methods.
