Results Totally 13 literatures were included. The meta-analysis showed there were significant differences between the health education group and the control group in fasting blood glucose(FBG) WMD=-1.15,95%CI=(-1.38,-0.91),P<0.000 01,2-h postprandial blood glucose(2-PBG) WMD=-2.63,95%CI(-3.50,-1.76),P<0.00001, glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)WMD=-0.74,95%CI(-0.88,-0.60) P<0.00001, quality of lifeWMD=6.84,95%CI(5.83,7.86),P<0.00001, compliant behaviorsWMD=2.48,95%CI(1.75,3.51),P<0.00001. Conclusion Health education is an effective method for treatment of diabetic patients. However, the quality of most literatures included in this review is low, the effect of health education on diabetic patients still needs to be further verified.
